Our Redevelopment Planning
The Multistate Environmental Response Trust (the Multistate Trust) accepted responsibility for remediating the former Tronox/Kerr-McGee Wood Treatment Facility in Springfield, Missouri (the Facility). The Multistate Trust is also responsible for positioning the ±68-acre Facility for safe, beneficial reuse.
Creating a Sustainable and Community-Supported Future
The Multistate Trust encourages community members and other interested stakeholders to assist in identifying future uses for the Facility. If you want to help make recommendations or have an interest in the Facility’s reuse, please contact Craig Kaufman of the Multistate Trust at ck@g-etg.com.
Our Redevelopment Planning Approach
The Multistate Trust, together with the MoDNR, is pursuing a redevelopment planning approach that is clear and transparent, involves local stakeholders, and is consistent with environmental justice principles. The Multistate Trust’s aim is to integrate potential future use(s) into cleanup plans.
The Multistate Trust continues to engage in discussions with prospective purchasers to position the Facility for sale or short-term lease.
Property Disposition
The transfer, sale, or disposition of any portion of the Facility is subject to the MHWMF Part I permit modification and associated public comment opportunities. It must ultimately be approved by the MoDNR and EPA (in consultation with DOJ), as provided in the Tronox Bankruptcy settlement documents that govern the Multistate Trust and its activities.
